As most of you are aware, Football Federation of Australia (FFA) have advised late afternoon 17/3/2020 that as the COVID-19 continues to be an evolving situation in Australia, all sanctioned football activities (games and training) in Australia will be suspended from today, 18 March 2020 until 14 April 2020.
This includes all teams and all players within our club.
Under no circumstances are any teams allowed to organise any training sessions of any kind during this period. As a club we will be looking at providing players with personal development and fitness plans to assist in maintaining individual player fitness and practice drills, that they can undertake at home or in a safe environment during this period. This information will be forwarded early next week.
Teams participating in Football Brisbane competitions (City Men and Women, Divisional and MiniRoos) all fixtures will recommence on weekend of 1 May 2020. Football Brisbane is holding hold a video conference tonight night to engage with club representatives to discuss options for a full home and away season for the rest of year, which may include midweek games, amongst other options. Outcomes from this collaboration will be shared with our members as soon as possible thereafter.
The club has not received any communication from Football Queensland at this moment as to when the QPL, NPLW, NPL and SAP competitions will recommence and we will advise once we have received further information about these competitions.
We hope everyone understands this decision has been made for the wellbeing of both our football family and wider community and Souths United FC is committed to the healthy and safety of our members, staff, supporters and volunteers.
This is unprecedented territory for all clubs and football in Australia. We ask for everyone’s patience, understanding and continuing support for our game.
If any member has been in close contact with any suspected or confirmed case, please advise us via email to: president@southsunited.org.au so the appropriate measure and support can be taken.
We will keep you regularly updated on the latest information when it becomes available but in the meantime, we urge everyone to keep informed, stay safe and health during these challenging times.
Kind Regards
Tracey Confessore
