COVID-19 UPDATE 16 MAY 2020 | FOOTBALL RESUMPTION PLANNING

Souths United Football Club hopes this finds you and your family well and through these challenging times, found ways to maintain your health, safety and connection to family, friends and those important to you.

No doubt you have all missed football as much as we have so we are thrilled to finally have some news regarding the return of football. This is the first instance since all sport was shelved by COVID-19 that we can communicate any sort of direction. Recently the Federal Government, and subsequently the Queensland Government, announced the 3 Step Framework for a COVIDSAFE Australia. There will be three stages to the return for sport.

Step 1- 15th May 2020: Outdoor Sport (Up to 10 people) will return if implemented consistently with the AIS Framework for rebooting Sport.

Step 2 - 12th June 2020: Up to 20 people will be allowed to participate in outdoor Sport (consistent with the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport).

Step 3 - 10 July 2020: All venues will be allowed to operate with gatherings of up to 100 people. Community sport expansion to be considered consistent with the AIS framework to Rebooting Sport.

The release of the three-step plan is a positive step towards the reintroduction of sport and recreation, which aligns to the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment and we know will be welcomed by all.

Souths United Football Club consider the health and safety of all its members, families, friends and visitors paramount. With this in mind, Souths United Football Club is developing a Resumption of Football Plan that is aligned with Federal & State Government | FFA, FQ & FB Guidelines (& AIS) and; underpinning restrictions and resumption stage positions. The plans, associated checklists and hygiene protocols, will be critical to achieve successful implementation of a Best Practise Hosting Football Events standard when we return. Details of the plan will be advised once Football Queensland and Football Brisbane have finalised their plans which will pave the way for a return as soon as sanctions are lifted.

The patience shown by players and parents in this fluid environment needs to be commended. Not just with our club, but the whole football family. We will communicate further on how we will return to football and once we have received direction from Football Queensland and Football Brisbane.

We will soon be reaching out to players, parents, coaches and managers in readiness for training and anticipated start/restart of fixtures. Please continue to stay safe, well and healthy and thank you once again for your patience.

Kind Regards | Your Club - Souths United
