FOOTBALL QUEENSLAND UPDATE ON INCREASED COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

Football Queensland has released an update for the football community following today’s announcement from Queensland Government regarding increased COVID-19 restrictions.

From 1am tomorrow, Tuesday 29 June increased restrictions will be introduced for people living in South East Queensland in the following Local Government Areas: Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Somerset.

New Restrictions for South East Queensland

The new restrictions include a requirement to carry a face mask at all times whenever leaving your home, and the mandatory wearing of face masks in indoor spaces and outdoors (except when alone or with household members and able to physically distance, and when doing strenuous exercise).

Please note masks are not required to be worn when participating in vigorous exercise including football training sessions or matches.

Capacities for indoor venues have returned to one person per 4m2 for indoor premises and one person per 2m2 outdoors or for venues under 200m2.

View the full list of restrictions here.

All clubs and members of the football community are also reminded to continue implementing and following the COVID Safe measures that have become the ‘new normal’.

These measures include the promotion of social distancing and hand hygiene measures and the regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces and equipment. Any participants who are unwell should also not attend any training sessions, matches or other football activity.

Additional Exposure Sites

Additional exposure sites across South East Queensland have also been confirmed, with all members of the football community advised to check the list of exposure sites on the Queensland Government website

Any participants who have been to the listed exposure sites at the relevant times must not attend any football-related activity and should immediately isolate, get a COVID test as soon as possible, and remain in isolation until they return a negative result.

Participants should not return to any form of football activity while they await their test result, and should continue to monitor updates from Queensland Health.

Rest of Queensland

From 1am Tuesday 29 June, any participants or family members who have been in South East Queensland must carry a mask and wear it whenever you are outside the house (excluding vigorous exercise or when eating and drinking).

Football Queensland will continue to keep the football community updated as more information becomes available.
